When I saw this word on the list, I thought “Oh great,” <insert eye roll>. Defining success for someone is hard when you’re not sure yourself. Do you cover financial success? Job? Life? Marriage? What kind of success do you look at and how do you talk about it? And then it fell in my lap.
My kid brother came to dinner today. While my menu wasn’t elaborate, it was fancier than usual. First of all, I decided to break out the brand new air fryer I got for Christmas.
Yes, Christmas. I was waiting until I cleared a spot in my appliance cupboard for it. No, I haven’t done that. But since I didn’t think I’d feel up to making my potato salad, I wanted something burger-ish, as we decided hamburgers would be super easy. What goes better with burgers than French fries! I honestly was dubious. Sure, people claimed it made them as good as the deep fryer… Any while that isn’t 100% accurate, they were a pretty close second and way easier clean up.

I also decided to made dessert! Yesterday, I bought some peaches and I had some raspberries. Combine those with some pie crust and crumb topping and you’ve got a peach raspberry mini pies with crumb topping. The embodiment of summer. Served with vanilla ice cream and they were every bite a dream.

Success? Yes. A fantastic dinner with my brother and my boys. An evening of good conversation and catching up. I learned that the answer to something is often right in front of you. It can be as simple as a good meal shared with the good people in your world. It doesn’t always have be super complicated!
