This post has take me a couple of days to write because it is a bit of a difficult topic for me to write about… While the concept of ‘letting go’ or ‘leaving things behind’ seems very easy, the practical application, to truly leave these things behind, takes planning and work.

I did a workshop this past weekend and part of it was about saying good-bye to the things we were ready to release from 2025. I have many things to release, however, I narrowed my focus, and wrote three things.
And burned the paper.
Not to worry, my brain is like a steel trap (with a trap door at the bottom) however, I wrote these down elsewhere.
The first things was to stop swallowing my need to keep the peace. This is a hard one for me. I am a mediator, peacekeeper, and conflict avoider by nature. Often bending over backward and giving up my own happiness to ensure that others are happy, that those around me don’t fight, and that events go off without complication.
Next, I have this habit of waiting to feel absolutely, 100% ready before I start something. This often results in my not starting. Starting what? Everything. Projects (there is a reason my studio took so long to build), crafts, academic endeavors, trips… This list goes on. I am quite afraid of doing things wrong, failing, making a mistake, things not working out.. That I just don’t start. I can’t be wrong if I never do it!
Finally, an easy one (I think). I decided to let go of all the hurt and heartache that 2025 brough my way. Maybe not an easy one but I am hoping when the clock turns over, with it will come a new year filled with new ideas, new fortunes, new hopes, and new dreams.
I didn’t leave the workshop without a plan! I have tangible ideas on how to work on the first two, as they really need a plan on how to leave those behaviours behind. I have a fizzy drink planned for tomorrow (tonight, I guess!) to ring in and toast 2026, and will find something to make some noise with to chase away the bad juju of 2025.
I will be back later today (since I am late posting this) to wrap up my month of writing. ❤ Happy early New Year’s Eve wishes and Happy New Year’s to those in the Southern Hemisphere!
