I am caught up now! Today is eleven things you are grateful for that we maybe take for granted and this one was EASY. Things started flooding to me. Why? Maybe because I spent some time in my childhood without some of our modern conveniences…
- Indoor plumbing. Yup. We spent several months living without indoor plumbing! We had to haul water from an old fashioned pump and used an outhouse. We bathed in a big stainless tub. Yes, we did have electricity.
- Coffee. I have a coffee problem. I drink too much. I’d be lost without it. Not because I use it to stay awake, just because I like it.
- Laptop computers. As I alluded to previously, because of issues with my neck/spine, I can’t hold a pen and write a lot, so being able to type makes my life a lot easier.
- Being a person. Women were not ‘persons’ until 1929. YES. Less than 100 years ago, I was not a person. Is it s a ‘thing’? I don’t know, but I am glad I am a person now.
- Glitter. Unlike many, I love glitter. I have a collection, but I’ve yet to unpack it after the reno. *sad face* Not sure exactly where my niece put it.
- Music. There is always music playing at my house. All styles – from rap in my son’s room, to blues in my husband’s office, to opera when I write at night.
- Comfortable pillows. I have neck issues. My pillows are my besties at night.
- My ice machine.I love cold, cold water.
- AWD/Driver assists. My car is older (2016) but what it does have for smarts and the all wheel drive makes it a joy to drive.
- Smart phones. Who knew we’d all have a computer in our pocket one day!
- Stick on nails. I can no longer grow fingernails. So the no-glue mani is a real help.
Sometimes, it is the simple things in life.
Unsure what I am talking about? You can catch the intro post here, but in short… The wellness studio I go to is running a free workshop this week, Elevate & Illuminate: A Free Lion’s Gate Portal Offering. Trista, the owner, is presenting live everyday, a gratitude challenge or assignment where we are tasked to come up with 11 things on a set idea or prompt. So, after the eleven days, we will have eighty-eight things or moments of gratitude.
