Happy memories from your favourite get together!
Over the years, there have been some good get togethers. With friends, with family, so picking some memories wasn’t hard – filtering through them and picking one set was difficult.
Many years ago, my Dad & Step Mom used to plan a family camping trip to a nearby park. The ones I remember most, was out to Elk Island National Park. My kiddo (who we used to affectionately call TroubleMaker), was quite young the last time we all went out together – maybe two and a half?
Anyway, the trip I am thinking of, all our usual rules (regarding his tightly guarded schedule) went out the window. There were sugary snacks! There were salty snacks!
There were minimal naps! He ran around like a crazy child with his cousins (who were 6 & 10) and played (and played)! They dominated the small playground, kicked balls, and stopped back in at one of the campsites for drinks, a reload of treats, and were off again.
I remember stopping him long enough to take the picture I included with this post, but that is probably the longest I got him to stop the entire weekend. My memories of what I did that weekend are minimal… What I remember is the laughter of children, the sun shining, lots of good food, and time with family. I remember being happy, enjoying time with my sister & brothers (and their spouses), a ‘no rules’ game of Bocce ball, and I remember visiting with my parents. Many happy memories, but seeing my TroubleMaker filled with joy is what I remember the most.
