A thing that you own that you’ve wanted for a long time.
There are many things that fit into this topic. I have been very, very fortunate to be able to have the things. A laptop, fancy serger (for sewing), the most amazing sewing cabinet, the most beautiful Mother’s ring.
But what I’ve wanted most? A space of my own. A place to go and be alone, to work, to think, to create, to read, to breathe. My husband has his office. My son has his bedroom. While I had my studio, it was open to the family room. I never felt like I had a private space to go and be alone and while I am sure there are many people in that same situation, a private space was something I was craving and felt I needed.
This year, after much deliberation, I decided it was time to build it. With the help of my amazing brother-in-law, my sister, my niece and her boyfriend, we made it happen. Like with most projects, it snowballed, and we ended up renovating our family room as well, but the new office build and family room renovation is complete. Now begins the long process of moving back in and dressing the space.

While the space isn’t ready to show off, I’d like to share the construction of the space. I’m immensely proud of the job done. The space, overall, looks absolutely stunning, and once it is completely finished, we will photograph it and I will write a new post about it. Short of our bathroom, I don’t think I’ve ever created a more beautiful space. This one is so lovely, I’m going to send photos back to the flooring & ceiling tile company, as well as the electrician who did the work. I believe it is that well curated they should have photos of it!

I cannot express how much I love the space and how fortunate I feel to have this thing I’ve longed for for so long! While I will be sharing it with my son (as he needs to move his computer out of his bedroom), he is up at night, and I work and create (typically) during the day. It will work out well for us.

I hope you enjoy seeing the pictures of the evolution of the space!
