Day 15: Your Person

Someone who believed in you before you did.

Has anyone ever believed in me before I did?

Yes!

Chris. My best friend. He saw something in me when we met and while I still don’t always believe in myself, he does. I wrote about Chris in my 50 Memories countdown, so I won’t go into great detail here but suffice to say, Chris is one of those unique people in life who can give so much of themselves freely, openly, lovingly, and generously. Yet, he truly doesn’t expect much in return – kindness, and ear when he needs it, and my support and friendship.

Are there others? Of course. My sister has always been one of my biggest champions! We don’t sit down and expressly say “Hey! I know you can do that!” but we’ve always got one another covered (like today, when she dyed my niece’s hair pink).

Belief doesn’t have to be grand gestures or have large fanfare, a knowing nod or good handshake is sometimes enough. But ensuring the people around you know you support them is important. So sharing those kind and encouraging words never hurt anyone and sometimes make all the world of difference.
